Top Mods to check in 2017

The Top mods to check out in 2017
Hello everyone my name is Aaron from The Soban Network here to kick off are first piece on the blog. Today we are going to be checking some of the top mods in 2017 you should check out. Now everything posted on here will be primarily focused on PC game modding which can include some off the net as well as those you can find readily available on Steam. So lets get this list rolling.

X-Com 2 The Long War 2
This is probably one of my favorite mods on this list and probably one of the most professional modding group out there. Pavonis Interactive is the creative team behind one of the biggest expansion for one of the top games in 2016. They also have a unique place on this list as they actually worked with creative assembly (the creators of Xcom 2) to actually launch content right off the bat.
Now what the mod deliveries is a great and more challenging experience for those veterans of the xcom series as well a host of new options for Xcom 2 players. One of the big changes is they create 9 unit classes if you include the spark dlc, from here they also expand on some core mechanics as well. One of the other changes is a much better infiltration mechanic that lets you set up proper ambush as a insurgent force would.
One of the big items that is unique in the modding community is they actual invent new mechanics not found in the original game. One of the big one is they have a Safe havens mechanic that actually lets macro each haven and make them a unique part of your infrastructure for the resistance. To even ramp up the difficulty they also add in new enemies to challenge you even more. So with just this you have almost like a new game with just this.

Stellaris: Star Trek New Horizons
A total conversion mod for the paradox interactive game Stellaris this mod is set in the wonderful Star trek universe and boldly goes where no modder has gone before. This mod lets you play out every fans dream letting you take control of empire spanning multiple eras and set a coure for the unknown. I have to say this mod has really delivered a unique experience and lets go over some of the key features.
The first thing is it has 50 plus prescripted races that you appear in this mod. This is flushed out further by having 5 fulled prescripted galaxy maps that adds either more for the fluff or more low end pc friendly static maps to help people out. From here you also have 16 ship sets that produce over 250 unique ship models. This really gets more into the narrative visually as if you play the Klingon empire or the Federation you will have those ships.
One the other big mechanics is the Era system that really adds to the experience. This is a nice addition as you can go all the way from the early enterprise era and as you gain new tech you can make your way up to newer eras by researching new tech. This is both great from a fluff and gameplay as the lore flows very easily with the gameplay. What is also interesting is that they added 300 plus race specific techs that make it so each race and empire feels that more unique.
You can check out the mod on steam at http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=688086068 or you can fellow them on the paradox interactive forum at https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-star-trek-new-horizons-a-stellaris-total-conversion.954925

Star Wars Empire at War: Thrawn's Revenge: Imperial Civil War
This mod is a total conversion mod set in the old Legacy setting for the Star Wars Expanded universe. Taking place after the battle of endor this takes players through several main event from the Star Wars time line that gives you a total immersion feel for the unveise. Its also adds a unique faction with some creative licensing to give another faction and a what if scario for Star Wars fans.
One of the big part of the changes is it adds a unqiue era system in some of the campaigns. The era system is a unique tech tree based around the leaders of the Imperial renment at the time. This goes all the way from Director Isard, The Reborn Emperor, with Thrawn being major players, each era giving unique units that you may not be able to build or use after a era might be finished. This is a really interesting mechanic as it shows some of the rise and fall of the empire and the chances they had to bring  back the galaxy under there rule.
In addition to this mechanic is the creation of unique Warlord factions you can take control of. This is another unique twist as in the expanded universe these warlords had unique strengths and weakness with each one of them. I feel they really pull this off and give each one enough unique equipment from the empire as a whole or the lore to make each one meaningful. Also with this you also get unique campaigns that feature certain ones showing timelines with each warlord.
So if your looking for a very expansive and re playable mod please check at Thrawn's Revenge: Imperial Civil War at there moddb page of http://www.moddb.com/mods/thrawns-revenge .
